GREENSBORO, Ga. — Area Realtor® Bobby Murray has made the move.
With over 30 years of experience in real estate — and a previous stint as co-owner of the Lake Country’s then-largest real estate company — Murray has shed the “conventional” industry model to join forces with the paradigm-shattering online brokerage, eXp Realty. As an Associate Broker of the international firm, Murray looks forward to not only providing eXp’s cutting-edge service to local buyers and sellers, but also offering area agents the opportunity to join one of the fastest-growing brokerage firms on the planet.
eXp’s unique cloud-based model translates into lower operating costs and increased collaborative efforts with industry experts nationwide. “Our agents have constant, instantaneous access to literally thousands of the best minds in the business,” Murray stresses. “It’s one of the reasons we can guarantee the highest quality service available anywhere.”
Murray’s move reflects a growing trend within the real estate profession. “There’s a reason why, every month, roughly 1,000 agents are leaving other firms to join eXp,” he explains. “In fact, it’s the fastest-growing global residential real estate company, with more than 32,000 agents across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.”
It’s the financial incentives offered to agents — stock options, retirement accounts, and more — that puts eXp in stark contrast with their competitors; the payment structure allows for their agents to continue receiving revenue even after they’ve left the real estate arena. “I saw it as an ‘exit strategy’ that gave me extra motivation to make the leap,” asserts Murray. “It’s an opportunity for agents to ‘get off the hamster wheel,’ to take charge of their future in a way that wasn’t possible before. It’s the difference between renting a brokerage and owning a brokerage.”
It’s a model that’s already attracted a number of top area Realtors®, loosely congregating under the moniker of “The Landmark Group:” Leslie Clark, Ashley Goodroe, Mary Rector, Kathleen Miller, Andi Thomas, Mike Dunn, and Murray himself. “Industry leaders are attracted to our technology, tools and training, as well as our extensive infrastructure,” he avers. “It’s an opportunity to get rid of all the legal problems, all the paperwork, and just let eXp take care of all those headaches.”
Though Murray admits to some initial reticence about switching to the new brokerage, his concerns were rapidly assuaged by his performance since joining eXp. “When I left my previous company, I asked myself, ‘What am I going to do if this fails?’” he recalls. “It was natural to worry…but very quickly, my transactions increased; last year, my commission quadrupled over my best year with the old firm.”
In identifying the reasons for this increase in transactions and revenue, Murray cites three major factors. “One, the agent has more autonomy,” he explains. “By being able to make my own decisions — rather than waiting on a response from others — I was able to greatly expedite all transactions. This kind of personal control led to the second reason: it reignited my energy, and got me excited about being a realtor again.
“And that, in itself, feeds into the third reason for my success: the boost I received is being experienced company-wide. There’s a palpable excitement and motivation among all eXp agents; it’s an invigorating, self-propagating energy that affects the whole as well as the parts.”
