GREENSBORO, Ga. — Never, in our worst nightmare … could we have foreseen where COVID-19 would take us.
Most of us have either had the virus or have close friends who have. Also, many of us have friends or loved ones who lost their lives to the virus. It is rampant in our community. This is such a trying time for the community, this country, and the rest of the world.
Both St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital and Putnam General Hospital are inundated with COVID-19 cases in addition to their normal patient loads. Hospital employees are working in very high-stress, isolated, frightening environments. Local restaurants are having an exceedingly difficult time again. The slowdown not only affects the restaurant owners but also the many workers employed by them.
With all of this in mind, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has resumed Project HealthCareHeroes, delivering lunch and dinner meals from local restaurants to both hospitals once a week.
“Fortunately, we anticipated this situation last summer and eased off on the deliveries to conserve our funds. Currently, we have sufficient funds for six or seven once-a-week lunch and dinner deliveries for each hospital; however, we would like to increase delivery to two days per week, and we expect that meals will be needed for more than six to seven weeks.
So, we need your help. Would you please find it in your heart to donate to this wonderful cause? Donate in two ways:
