On Tuesday, March 16, Lake Oconee Elks Mary Zachary and Norma Graham delivered a 65-inch smart TV, DVD player, sound bar, display easels and lots of art supplies to the Georgia War Veterans Home. The veterans have not been able to leave the confines of their rooms and floors for the past year due to the pandemic. During ‘normal’ times the veterans have art classes every week and they have greatly missed them. Art supplies had to be taken up to their individual rooms. The home is confident that in the next few months the veterans will be able to attend classes again and the TV was a much-needed addition to their classroom. Now they will be able to watch instructional videos on different art techniques and also watch art videos on YouTube. Two of the veterans (Alan Sexton and David Wise) were even allowed out on Tuesday to have their picture taken with Mary and Norma and some of the staff.
