Gloria Perales frequently drove by the First Call Pregnancy Center in Greensboro but she never knew what a difference their services would make in her life. She and her husband, Victor, are residents of Union Point and were excited about the possibility of being first-time parents.

The first place Perales called, after her positive pregnancy test, was First Call Pregnancy Center.

“They were so welcoming and kind from the very beginning. They told me to come right in and they would perform another pregnancy test.”

Her first pregnancy was a joyful one because of the services of First Call. She attended informational classes on parenting, what to expect through the various stages of pregnancy, how to “clothe” that expectant belly, and understanding labor and delivery. Because of work obligations, Victor was not able to attend all of the classes but he and Perales spent many evenings discussing what she had learned in the classes.

Perales and her husband both attended the car seat class, which was her favorite class.

“We learned the importance of safety in the car seat and I felt so comfortable when I brought my baby home from the hospital.”

One of her favorite things during her time with the First Call staff was her ultrasound.

“The technician was so caring and she took the time to explain everything to me. The process was so relaxing and the staff loved my baby,” she stated.

Gloria and Victor’s daughter, Valentino, recently turned 1 and Gloria shared that First Call holds a special place in her heart.
