Franks Chiropractic Life Center to donate proceeds to the Eugene Swain Memorial

Published 1:49 pm Wednesday, August 4, 2021

A beloved and well-known local artist, Eugene Swain was tragically killed in a car accident on June 13, 2021. His wife, Glenda, remains in the hospital in critical condition following the wreck. Swain’s artwork focused on local relics of the rural south and many memories he had while growing up in Madison and the surrounding area. His artwork is on display in local galleries and across the United States. His passion was painting old barns and homes he saw on his many trips driving down old country roads.

The Swains were not only patients of Franks Chiropractic Life Center, but were considered wonderful friends of Dr. Rick Franks and the staff.

“I got to know Eugene and his wife at the Greensboro Jubilee this past spring,” said Dr. Franks. “We quickly became friends and I learned a lot about him, his family, and his love for painting. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by many in the community. His paintings will always be a fond reminder of him.”

Franks Chiropractic will hold a special day for Eugene on Saturday, Aug. 7(in both office locations) in which all proceeds will be donated to the Eugene Swain Memorial GoFundMe. Stop by either location from 9 a.m. to  noon and receive an adjustment and/or a new patient exam.

There are two locations to choose from: 1031 Parkside Commons, Suite 103 and 118 S. Main St., Greensboro. No appointment necessary, however due to heavy response, scheduling in advance is highly recommended.

Eugene was an amazingly talented artist who captured the hearts of the community. He was involved in craft shows, festivals, local museums and art programs. In addition, Eugene was a self-taught musician and played guitar in his family’s church home of Plainview Baptist Church.

“Our time together was way too short,” said Dr. Franks. “We want to help the family in any way we can. I hope you will join us in doing so while helping yourself at the same time. Thank you.”
