Harbor Club on Lake Oconee invites all Lake Country golfers to enjoy a day on the links at a reduced green fee as it hosts the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) Member Play Day on Tuesday, Aug. 31.
The event will offer both GSGA members and non-members a reduced green fee of $65, which includes cart rental, range balls, closest-to-the-hole prizes and one complimentary soft drink. Visit the GSGA online to register for the event at www.golfgenius.com/pages/2913444. The Play Day is designed to highlight GSGA member courses and the benefits of membership in the organization.
Area golfers who are not a member of the GSGA and would like to establish a golf handicap can do so through the Harbor Club golf shop or by visiting www.gsga.org. A golfer need not be a club member nor live in Harbor Club in order to keep his or her golf handicap at the club. The Harbor Club course is ranked the No. 4 golf course you can play in Georgia per the prestigious GOLF magazine course rating panel.
According to Harbor Club Head Golf Professional Keith Kelly, “A golf handicap is a great equalizer when you’re playing a casual match with your friends. Plus many charity golf scramble competitions require official handicaps given some of the big prizes they offer. And a handicap is vital when planning a golf vacation to the British Isles as most premier courses require you to present a current USGA handicap card. They mandate a male golfer to carry no greater than a 24 handicap to play the course, and for women the limit is 36.”
Members of the GSGA enjoy a variety of annual benefits including reduced pricing at worldwide hotels, sporting events, concerts and theme parks, an annual subscription to Golf Georgia magazine, frequent special rates at GSGA member clubs, over a dozen Member Play Days a year and eligibility to compete in some of the 20 competitions that the GSGA conducts each year. There is an annual membership fee of $30 if one registers for a golf handicap at Harbor Club, or $40 for online registration with the GSGA.
