- The Oconee Community Youth Chorus is a shining example the OPAS educational programs.
On Friday, Nov. 12, the Oconee Performing Arts Society presents its signature fundraising event Soirée en Blanc & Noir! Imagine being whisked away to a secret destination. Upon your arrival, sip champagne while admiring an award-winning Georgia Historic Trust renovation site. After cocktails and banter, enjoy fine cuisine while bidding on fabulous silent and live auction items.
Soirée en Blanc & Noir borrows key elements from the highly popular, global phenomenon, Diner en Blanc, including keeping the destination secret from guests until the day of the event. A shuttle is available and recommended for those who would like to take the 30-minute scenic ride to the mystery location. Guests are asked to dress in black or white cocktail attire in keeping with the Blanc & Noir theme. Several fundraising opportunities are provided throughout the evening, including a 75/25 cash raffle, silent, and live auction. As a testament to the engaging OPAS performing arts opportunities, the OPAS Community Youth Chorus will perform, then dance the night away to your favorite Atlanta band, Bogey and the Viceroy.
Proceeds from Soiree en Blanc & Noir will benefit all things OPAS with an emphasis on Performing Arts Education Programs. In addition to the Youth Chorus, OPAS provides live theater opportunities to over 2,000 students each school year, guest artist master classes, and scholarships for the next generation of performing artists. Artistic Director Doug LaBrecque recently created the OPAS Lesson Bank. This popular program pairs deserving students with one-on-one virtual instruction to world-class instructors.
