HEMBREE: Consider tickets as gifts

With the holiday gifting season approaching, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite gifts I have ever received. The gift was a concert ticket voucher to one of my favorite cover bands. Since the concert was a while away after Christmas, the gift was a piece of paper saying “this concert is coming up and you have two tickets to it!” I was so excited to get to look forward to the show for the next months.

This was a favorite because it was an experience that was given — something I got to share with a friend and a night I won’t forget.

Now don’t get me wrong, I loved the clothes, jewelry and other gifts I got that year, but the concert tickets took the cake. It was something that I not only got to look forward to, we all know the anticipation of something is half the fun, but I got to have this great experience given to me.

I think there are a lot of other people out there who, like me, would enjoy an experience as a gift.

Consider gifting tickets to a show at The Plaza this giving season.

Coming up first this fall is PAPA’s performances of Neil Simon’s “The Dinner Party.” This play is put on by the Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts and is sure to be a great show. This would be a great ‘just because’ gift, a gift for a date night or an extra early Christmas gift! The shows will be Nov. 4-7.

While you probably haven’t heard the name, Take3 Trio, after the show, you will want to keep listening to them. They are a trio who plays classical instruments, but spices things up. They play current songs by current bands such as Coldplay and Imagine Dragons as well as classics like “Stand by Me,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “On the Road Again” and more — this show will be a treat for the audience and would be a perfect gift for a fall birthday or an early Christmas gift. The trio comes to The Plaza on Nov. 13.

For the Christmas season, we have Celtic Angels. They were a hit last year and they will be a hit this year as well. Celtic Angels Christmas captivates audiences of all ages with the magic of Christmas in an awe-inspiring show. The event includes vocal and instrumental seasonal and Irish favorites along with spectacular world-class champion Irish dancing. Save the date – Monday, Dec. 13 and Tuesday, Dec. 14, as the Celtic Angels and Celtic Knight Dancers come to Eatonton to celebrate the holiday season.

While these three performances are upcoming, we have a full season in line for 2022, which means that any time or season is a great reason to give a gift of a unique experience. All tickets can be bought online at plazacenter.org or you can give us a call at 706-923-1655.

Happy gifting!
