Stroll the street of Lake Oconee’s hometown to find the perfect holiday gift.

GREENSBORO, Ga. — There are only a few weeks until Christmas, and downtown Greensboro is already working to help you and your family enjoy the holidays in your hometown.

Greensboro Merchants are decorated and ready for you to kick off your shopping season in downtown, without the hustle and bustle of the large crowds.

Everyone is invited to the annual downtown tree lighting on Dec. 3. The tree lighting celebration will take place in downtown Greensboro on the  courthouse lawn from 6 to 8 p.m. This is an evening of music, food and holiday fun. It is rumored that Santa will be in town for storytelling! Children, be sure to bring your wish list to historic downtown Greensboro to give leave in Santa’s mail box!

New to the stage this year will be Clayton Street Jazz Band featuring Chris Queen on keyboard, Stan Flanders on saxophone, Rick Cook on trumpet, Dan Jones on trombone, Mark Turiano on drums and Dan Horowitz on bass. Featured singers will be Festival Hall director, Nicole Chillemi, Princess, Tom Logan and others. Join them around the stage as they sing all of your favorite Christmas carols.

Local organizations and non-profits are encouraged to participate in the event. Your organization is invited to take this opportunity to fundraise with goodies such as hot chocolate, baked goods, hot apple cider, candied apples, and other holiday favorites. If you have a craft or would like to participate in the Lighting of the Tree, please email KWard@greensboroga.gov.

When shopping this holiday, don’t forget to shop small and shop Greensboro first!
