GREENSBORO, Ga. — The construction of a new independent living senior community kicked off earlier this month at a 12-acre site along Oconee Avenue in the City of Greensboro.
The Cottages at Baynes Creek development will deliver 50 cottage-style homes featuring a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units for senior citizens ages 55 and above. The project is being co-developed by Georgia Communities Inc. and Paladin Inc. to address the urgent need for new housing stock in and around the city.
“Today’s seniors are looking to live active lifestyles and stay connected to the broader community,” said Georgia Communities Vice President, Joe Collums. “Cottages at Baynes Creek is going to offer that type of experience and keep rates affordable, so we believe it is going to be a tremendous asset for the community.”
“The City of Greensboro is excited to welcome the Cottages at Baynes Creek,” says community development director, Cail Hammons. “This project will increase the available housing options within our community,”
The development will feature a community building with a fully equipped exercise room, gathering areas for resident events and a business center. It will also include a wellness center where health screenings will be provided in a partnership with Oconee Valley Healthcare.
Outdoor amenities will include a lighted walking path with benches, pavilion and community garden where residents will be able to grow their own food. Each unit will include front and rear patios and appliances including in-unit washers and dryers.
The project’s developers anticipate a 14-month construction period, with the new community tentatively scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2023.
