EATONTON — It was said before, ‘The Atlantic City Boys are the best of the best.’ Well, Eatonton got a taste of the best Friday, Jan. 21, at The Plaza Arts Center.
The Atlantic City Boys, known for their on stage charisma and singing talent performed hits from Frankie Valli, the Beach Boys to Rat Pack and BeeGees.
‘Oh What a Night’ it was!
More than 400 people gathered in The Plaza Arts Center theater to enjoy the group. The Atlantic City Boys kicked off The Plaza’s 2022 live entertainment season.
“We were over the moon to have a full house kick off our 2022 season and The Atlantic City Boys were just the group to get us started,” Susan Usry, The Plaza’s executive director said. “They were so entertaining and engaging for everyone.”
Calling audience members on stage, the patrons were thrilled to be active participants in the show and they were also able to sing along in their seats to songs they know and loved.
“The Atlantic City Boys came to town and wowed our audience with great music and top notch entertainment,” Vickie Spivey, Programming Director at The Plaza said. “A big city show right here in Eatonton!”
Part of The Plaza’s mission is to bring shows to the Lake Country that patrons may not be able to see otherwise. The show in late January was a prime example of that as the guys in the group perform all over the nation.
“The Atlantic City Boys were a phenomenal, energetic performance that filled The Plaza with the liveliness it held pre-pandemic,” Maggie Milner, Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce President said. “The nostalgia of the ’50s and ’60s era music spoke to the majority of the audience while the comedic interaction was engaging to all. Having this classic and timeless act perform was exactly what Eatonton needed right now.”
This week, world-class pianist, Barron Ryan, is coming to The Plaza to perform and give an inspiring lecture to a Master Class. Master Classes are meant for a small group of advanced students to learn from someone in the field.
Ryan’s Master Class, ‘Destined for Greatness’ will combine an inspirational talk with piano performance. The Plaza invites Lake Country youth to come and take part in this unique opportunity.
“Having Barron Ryan come and give a Master Class is something I am truly excited about,” Taylor Hembree, marketing director at The Plaza said. “Seeing the kids interact with the musicians is one of the reasons why I love doing what I do.”
Ryan will then play a full concert. His performance will combine classical piano music with more modern/contemporary takes on songs.
Ryan is coming Feb. 10 for both the Master Class and the concert. For tickets to the show, visit plazacenter.org and to reserve a spot for the FREE Master Class, email Vickie Spivey at vickie@theplazacenter.com.
