Members of 100 Who Care Del Webb Lake Oconee recently completed their 2022 first quarter with a donation to Ferst Readers of Greene County, a charity dedicated to fostering literacy and creativity in pre-kindergarten children.
Robin Ferst was inspired to start the non-profit Ferst Readers in 1999 after listening to a plant executive in Madison, Ga. discuss the difficulty finding employees who could read at the required level for hiring. Their mission is “strengthening communities by providing quality books and literary resources for children and their families to use at home during the earliest stages of development.” Their vision is “to create better learners, brighter futures and stronger communities by giving every pre-kindergarten child access to quality books in their homes.
