GREENSBORO, Ga. — This is a reminder that Second Harvest will be holding its monthly food distribution on Saturday, May 21^, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. (or until food supplies are depleted). In addition, the Oconee Regional Humane Society will be on hand to distribute pet food and supplies. 

The distribution will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 202 W. Broad St. in downtown Greensboro.

If you need food and/or would like to volunteer, please join us on Saturday morning!

“BackPack Sponsors of the Month” are Steve and Eudora Harrold and Ken and Kris Greenway. Their generous donation will provide one month of weekend backpack meals for more than 160 elementary school children in Greene County.

Second Harvest is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. The mission of the program is to eliminate hunger in these counties.  The program started in late 2008 by identifying places to “rescue” excess food. Over the years, the program has expanded to include monthly food distributions and the School Backpack Program which provides “weekend backpack meals” to elementary school children from low-income families.
