Mark Twain stated that “Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.”

Unifying the country starts with our community

In that effort, on Father’s Day (June 19) Eatonton and Greensboro will honor the youngest remaining American hero that participated in the Freedom Rides of 61 years ago — Charles Person.

Sixty-one years ago Person was a part of the group of seven blacks and six whites that arrived in Atlanta on Mother’s Day to bring the entire country and world for that matter, to the atrocities of Jim Crow in the south.  By the time they finished in Jackson, Miss. over 450 Americans of all colors from throughout this country joined them. Their couragoues efforts were integral to the passing of the subsequent Civil Rights Act of 1964 legislation and helped shed the light on inequalities.

Come be a part of history and join the conversation. Come out for a free viewing of “2,000 Mules,” a documentary on the 2020 election, on Flag Day (June 14) at Parkside Main 8. To attend register at LetDCknow.org .
