COKAS Cup golf tournament winners announced

It was another fantastic day for the Christ Our King and Savior (COKAS) Catholic Church 15th annual COKAS CUP Tournament on April 11, at Harbor Club. The teams teed off at a noon shot-gun start. Chick-fil-A provided a great lunch. 5B BBQ & Brews provided a delicious post-tournament barbecue pork and chicken dinner with all the fixins. 

Winners of the women’s flight were: Jean Silberesin, Sherry Southern, Tina Long and Jocelyn Gallois. The winning couple’s team consisted of Amy Nash, Jason Hardwick, Jill and Pat McCann. The winning mixed flight were: Mike Meehan, Ted Meyers, Annie and Marty Thallman. 

Ladies Longest Drive went to Beth Fraly and the Men’s Longest Drive went to Herschel Mauldin. Ladies Closest to the Pin was Sherrie Southern and Men’s Closest to the Pin was Tim Boone. Winners of the COKAS cash raffle were: $1,000 to Greta Farelli, $500 to Fran D’ Antonio and $250 to Mary Tiedeman. The Pedego Electric Bike raffle was won by Kristen Hill.  Mike Fuller won the Par-3 Poker contest. Ken Lepkowski won the 50-50 raffle.

Gold Sponsors were Chic-fil-A of Lake Oconee and Barbara & Mark Holihan.  Silver Sponsors were Central Fabricators Inc., Sun Life Marinas of Lake Oconee, Publix, Bucky, Sara, Conor and Ryan Kahl, Ginny and Ralph Olson.  Bronze sponsors included Barbara Callahan, Mickey and Jerry Schonhoft, Crowe Marine, Amici Restaurant, Jimmy Britt Chevrolet, 5B BBQ & Brews and Al’s Roofing & Gutters.

Finally, the tournament committee would like to thank the entire COKAS parish for their support of the raffle again this year, which netted $22,005 and all of the sponsors, golfers and volunteers for making this year’s tournament so successful. We are thrilled that we were able raise $53,946 this year and these funds will be distributed to the local community outreach programs in Greene, Putnam and Hancock counties. The charities include: St. Vincent de Paul Society – COKAS Chapter and Martha’s Closet, Atlas Ministry, Inc., Circle of Love Center, Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity of Greene and Putnam Counties, First Call Pregnancy Center, Ferst Readers for Greene, Putnam and Hancock Counties, Reynolds Veterans Association, Kingdom Kare, Project Linus and Purification Heritage Center. Over the last fifteen years, this tournament has raised over $450,000, all which has been given back to the local charities listed and in the community.
