GREENSBORO, Ga. — On Tuesday, June 14, the Greene County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Grand Harvest Opening of Hemi Blueberry Farm with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the farm located just outside of downtown Greensboro.

Hemi Blueberry Farm is a family-owned and operated farm established in 2015 by Hector Buitrago and Michele Lamassonne. A natural aquifer runs underneath the farm, giving Hemi Blueberry Farm some of the best water in the area to grow beautiful, healthy berries. New to the farm this year is the addition of 400 plants of thornless blackberries.

“We do not use pesticides at all on our berries. We have added 400 plants of blackberries, which are thornless, and ready to pick. This year also marks the peak harvest for our blueberries as it’s the 4th year for these plants. Peak season takes 4 years to develop the best blueberry crop. We believe we serve the absolute best berries in the area” said Buitrago.

In addition to growing blackberries and six varieties of Blueberries: Vernon, Legacy, Brightwell, Camellias, Krewer and Titan (jumbo variety developed by University of GA) — and four varieties of Muscadine grapes: Black Jumbo, Black Beauty, Bronze Magnolia Scuppernong and Bronze Old Fashioned, Hemi Blueberry Farm sells farm favorites such as blueberry lemonade, blueberry preserves, blueberry ice cream, and Hemi Blueberry Farm apparel.

Hemi Blueberry Farm is open to the public by appointment only to limit crowds and ensure all pickers can enjoy their time at the farm. Blueberries and blackberries are ready to harvest, and muscadine grapes will be ready for picking in September, followed by wine becoming available in December.

Hemi Blueberry Farm is located at 1861 Bramlett Road, Greensboro Georgia 30642. For hours of operation, information about Hemi Blueberry Farm, or to make an appointment, please visit www.Hemiblueberryfarm.com or call 770-403-7018.

The Greene County Chamber of Commerce wishes to thank Bank of Madison, Farm Bureau Insurance, BankSouth, and Oconee Radio Group for coming out to support fellow Chamber member, HEMI Blueberry Farm.
