Ferst Readers holding fall fundraiser

Published 1:00 pm Thursday, September 1, 2022

Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam counties will once again be offering the opportunity to give the gift literacy to a young child AND have a chance to win a fabulous prize by buying a raffle ticket for our 2 Ways 2 Win fall fundraiser. After two years without raffle prizes, we are again offering them with the generous support of our local shops and restaurants. The purchase of a $36 raffle ticket is all you need to “adopt a reader” and put your name in the pot to win a prize. The more tickets you buy, the greater your changes of winning, and of course more young readers will benefit.  All children living in Greene and Putnam from birth to age 5 are eligible to receive these new, age-appropriate books every month for one year.

The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3in the Magnolia Room at Lake Oconee Bistro where you can dine before, during or after. You do not have to be present to win.Come enjoy dinner and help us to celebrate the raffle winners and Ferst Readers literacy program that evening. Twenty prizes will be given away.

Ferst Readers’ fall fundraising goal is to provide books to 500 children in Greene and Putnam counties for the coming year by raising $18,000. Please help us reach this goal! Tickets can be purchased from any community action team member, from Cathy Mize at 478-454-7150, from Carol Kuhn at 443-867-2012, or from Diana O’Keefe at 706-467-3765. All our funding comes from your generosity. We currently have more than 1,000 young children enrolled in the two counties.

If you want do donate, but don’t want to participate in the raffle drawing, donations can be made online at https://bit.ly/GreenePutnamAdoptaReader.
