Rotary Club honors February 2023 Students-of-the-Month

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for February 2023: Parker Rainey (Gatewood Schools), Sherlyn Camacho-Bustamante(Greene County High School), Jordan Nichols(Lake Oconee Academy), Mason Bear(Nathanael Greene Academy), and Tori Sheppard(Putnam County High School). Note Parker Rainey (Gatewood) was unavailable and will be honored at a future meeting.
Sherlyn Camacho-Bustamante is a senior at Greene County High School. She participates in various school activities, such as track, Air Force JROTC, DECA, BETA, and FFA. Outside of school, she enjoys playing the piano for small family events as well as for pleasure. She plans on continuing higher education once she graduates to pursue a career in accounting and finance. She is currently undecided about which college she will be attending. Master Sgt. Joe Miley is her chosen Greene County High School Teacher of the Month. He has impacted her most throughout her years at Greene County School.
Jordan Nichols is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy. Her parents are Jeremy and Christi Nichols. An honor roll student, she is a member of the softball team, sideline cheer team, and the Lake Oconee Miracle. She also volunteers at the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club on Wednesdays where she organizes a cheer program. Outside of school, she works at Greensboro First United Methodist Preschool and Tillery Traditions. After high school, she plans to attend the University of North Georgia and pursue a degree in elementary education. In 10 years, Jordan sees herself as an elementary teacher. Jordan picked Keetah Singleton as her Teacher of the Month.
Mason Bear is a junior at Nathanael Greene Academy. His parents are John and Melissa Bear. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greensboro. He is a Beta Club member and plays football and baseball. He is a junior firefighter for the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department and is currently taking an Emergency Medical Responder course offered by the Greene County EMS. He also works for his family’s business part time. Mason enjoys hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He is a very hard-working young man and he is always willing to help others out when he can. After high school, Mason plans to further his education at a Technical School. He is undecided as to his career path at this point but is looking into options as a Firefighter or a Diesel Mechanic. Gracie Bissell is his chosen NGA Teacher of the Month.
Tori Sheppard is a senior at Putnam County High School. Her parents are Kyle and Blair Sheppard. As well as being an honor roll, she has participated in Beta club, Key Club, National Honors Society, and works an after-school job. She enjoys working, art, shopping and being with her friends. She believes her kindness is her most positive attribute. Someone she respects the most is her mother. This is because she is such a strong, kind-hearted individual and has been the best role model and friend. After high school, she plans to attend the University of North Georgia and eventually pursue a career in either engineering or orthodontics. She selected Jessica Castillo as her Teacher of the Month.
