Kim and Lin Logan Real Estate is pleased to be able to make a $2,000 donation to another local in need — Christy Hill Wilkins — and this is her story.

“On Nov. 15, 2022, I went in for my annual mammogram. Later, I was asked to come back for a second mammogram and was diagnosed with Stage 2 Bilateral Breast Cancer on Dec.  6, 2022. I thought to myself, ‘But I am only 47 years old!,’ I was in a great deal of shock. In my mind, I was too young for this to happen.

Everything went very quickly after the diagnosis. I was told I would have four rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiation. All of this was very overwhelming, but at the same time, I was grateful that I’d had my annual mammogram and that the cancer was found early. I would urge all women to make sure to get those yearly mammograms and in general, for everyone to get their routine checkups and exams. Early detection is so key to survival rates!

I feel like part of my cancer journey is to remind everyone to slow down and take care of your health. I have had several friends already set up OBGYN appointments and mammograms because I have talked to them about how important having my annual mammogram was. To me, this gives my journey purpose.

I will survive cancer and would like to say how grateful I am for all the love and support from my family, friends, church and community. All the love and support have really made this difficult time in my life so much easier.

The Brittney Cares Foundation is a charity Kim and Lin Logan formed to honor the memory of the daughter they lost in a tragic lake accident. Each agent on their team gives monthly donations from their own commission checks (which the company matches) to help those in the community who are desperately in need.
