EATONTON, Ga. — Home Furniture & Mattress at Lake Oconee will begin liquidation for permanent closure. Owner Steven Durham announced that the family-owned company will focus solely on its original Warner Robins location.

With a rich history in the furniture industry, the Durham family has demonstrated their dedication to quality furniture and customer service for more than 25 years. Steven Durham’s grandfather originally opened a furniture manufacturing plant giving Steven the opportunity to spend his formative years working for the family business and learning the process of making high-quality furniture. His passion for the industry led him to the decision to buy and run the company as soon as he graduated from college.

Under Durham’s ownership, Home Furniture & Mattress was founded at its original location in Warner Robins and became so popular that the business had to expand its space through the purchase of multiple buildings. Then in 2020, the Lake Oconee store opened to accommodate their rapid growth.

Steven and his family are actively involved owners and they have created a unique non-commission business model which intentionally takes the pressure off their sales team, making their customer service top-tier.

“We took a chance by opening our new location during a very challenging time at the onset of the pandemic. Although we are closing our doors in Lake Oconee, we have learned valuable lessons about how to better serve our community and we remain hopeful for the future,” said Durham.

The store closing sale will open to the public on Thursday, May 4, at 954 Greensboro Rd NE, next to the BP. Furniture in every category and style will be offered at deep discounts and priced to move quickly. Store management encourages early shopping for the best selection. 

The storewide close-out includes famous brands such as Catnapper, Best, Tempur-pedic, Simmons, Sealy, Barcalounger, Vaughn Bassett, Hickory Craft, Chair America, Liberty, Universal, Magnussen, Leather Italia, Howard Miller, Bed Tech, Sea Winds, Capri, Cottage Creek, and more.
