EATONTON, Ga. — The Plaza Arts Center is gearing up for summer with two upcoming summer camps.
Camp Broadway will take place June 12-16 at The Plaza. This camp is for rising third- through eigth-graders and is lead by The Arts Barn. Each year, campers get to help build a set, create costumes, learn lines and learn choreography in order to perform live for their friends and family on The Plaza stage. Last year was the biggest year yet and this year we are hoping for an even bigger camp! Camp Broadway is $175 for the week and scholarships are available. In order to inquire about a scholarship, call The Plaza at 706-923-1655 or email moreinfo@theplazaartscenter.com.
Art Camp is slated for July 17-21 and is for rising first- through fifth-graders. This camp is lead by the volunteers with the After School Art Program. This camp is so much fun for everyone involved. The campers learn new skills such as weaving, watercolors, pottery and so much more. At the end of the week, the group has lots of new crafts to bring home and display. Art Camp is $125 for the week and scholarships are available for this one as well. In order to inquire about a scholarship, call The Plaza at 706-923-1655 or email moreinfo@theplazaartscenter.com.
Lastly, The Plaza and The Arts Barn collaborate each summer on a Broadway Intensive pro- gram. This program is a two-week intensive where high schoolers, college students and young adults combine to learn and perform a professional production on The Plaza stage. Working with Broadway veteran Henry Scott, the campers get an inside look at the professional world of theater and performing. This intensive is such a neat experience with the people involved and the collaboration helps bring The Plaza’s mission of youth education to life. This year, the Broadway Intensive with culminate with performances of “Seussical.” “Seussical” is a musical based on Dr. Seuss characters and is sure to be a great time for everyone in the Lake Country.
