The U.S. Flag Code states, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties offers a free service to collect and properly dispose of any worn or damaged flags. The Rotary Club will collect old flags at the locations listed below. Local Boy Scouts Troops and Lake Oconee Elks Lodge will conduct the proper flag disposal ceremonies. This year marks the 15^th year of the program. To date, the Club has collected over 3,000 flags.
