Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts announces auditions for ‘Twelve Angry Jurors’

The Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) announces audition and performance dates for its production of “Twelve Angry Jurors” by Reginald Rose, who wrote the TV play in 1954. The play was later adapted for the stage by Sherman Sergel.

Performed on Broadway and as a movie, the play has been a successful and highly acclaimed drama, both for the script and for the intensity of the acting.

The original script was written for men, but today, theater groups are permitted to update the script to include women, hence the name jurors. There are six leads, six supporting, and three ensemble roles with a mixture of adult males and females filling these parts. Play directors are Sarah Daly Weir and Dennis McClain, who will decide which characters will be portrayed by men and which by women after the auditions.

Auditions with be held at The Plaza Arts Center on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. and on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.

Performance dates are Nov. 9, 10, 12 and 16, 17, 19. Notice that there will be no Saturday performances.
