Tree decorating with Elks Fred Thyer and Mike DePetrillo

On Dec. 4, a group of Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 members went to the Georgia War Veterans Home to host a pizza and donut party and decorate the Christmas tree in the recreation room. Elk volunteers helped to bring the veterans down from their rooms to the recreation room for a fun-filled afternoon eating pizza and donuts while putting ornaments and lights on the Christmas tree. It’s always fun and interesting conversations that Elks have with the veterans who love to have visitors, especially if they bring pizza and donuts. The lodge always has plenty of volunteers that assist during the lodge’s monthly outings at the home because Veterans are very special to Elk members’ hearts.  The Elks have a motto ‘So long as there are Veterans they will never be forgotten.’
