On Saturday, Jan. 13, the Lake Oconee Academy chorus sang the national anthem just before tipoff at the UGA vs. Tennessee men’s basketball game in Athens. The chorus consisted of seventh and eighth grade students, many of whom have been in the school’s choral program for two years. Under the direction of Cathy Williamson and Amy Reber, the students performed a beautiful acapella version of the anthem in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,523 fans at Stegeman Coliseum. Students and their families were invited to stay for the game afterwards to cheer on the Bulldogs. According to Cathy Williamson, ‘This was an incredible opportunity for our students and an experience they will remember for a lifetime. We are so grateful to the University of Georgia for extending the invitation to perform.’ Pictured from left: Amy Reber, Avery Adams, Macy Colby, Gabriella Boivin, Kayden Hudson, Jaycei Mathis, Mrs. Cathy Williamson, Dakota Moon, Christian Smith, Amelia Ingle, Marley Kerschner, Brooklyn Allen, Ella Riddle, Brandi Cummins and Stephanie Camp.
