Rotary Club honors February 2024 Students-of-the-Month

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for February 2024: Hillary Haley(Gatewood), Chris Lowe (Greene County High School), Sydney Pattison (LOA), Katelyn Jones(NGA), and Claudia Franklin (Putnam County High School).

Hillary Haley is a senior at Gatewood School. Her parents are Dan and Hollie Haley. Haley is an honor roll student, a member of the Anchor Club, and on the competition and sideline cheer team. She is also a part of the Junior Board of Directors for Farmers and Merchants Bank. After high school, Haley plans to attend Georgia Southern University and pursue a career in nursing in hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse. Libby Haley, her math teacher and grandma, is Hillary’s chosen Gatewood School Teacher-of-the-Month.

Chris Lowe is a senior at Greene County High School. His parents are Beaufort and Aarondia Lowe. Lowe is an honor roll and dual-enrollment student with a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the football and basketball teams, as well as track and field. Lowe is a member of the Youth City Council for Greene County, a Chick-fil-A Ambassador, and Senior Class Representative. He enjoys playing football, being with family and friends, and helping others. Lowe volunteers at the local Senior Center, a reading program for elementary school kids, and helps to organize fundraisers for the football team and school. After high school, Chris plans to attend Berry College and major in engineering. In 10 years, he sees himself as a nuclear dngineer at an energy facility. Lowe selected Megan Calicott as his Teacher-of-the-Month.

Sydney Pattison is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy. Her parents are Scott and Vickie Pattison. Sydney is the region STAR Student for 2024, as well as student body vice president and executive director of the LOA miracle. She is the co-captain of the cheerleading team, among her involvement in the National Beta Club and National Honor Society. Pattison hopes to pursue an International Affairs degree at Georgia Tech in the fall, hoping to work in U.S. foreign policy in her future. Carina Sauter is her chosen Lake Oconee Academy Teacher-of-the-Month.

Katelyn Jones is a senior at Nathanael Greene Academy. Her parents are Jeremy and Ashley Worth. Jones has participated in tennis, literary, theater, chorus, soccer, cross country, cheer, and competitive cheer. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She considers her bubbly personality and reliability to be her best qualities. She considers her parents and friends to be her biggest motivators. She has been accepted into Athens Tech’s dental hygienist program and plans to attend in the fall. She chose Danielle Williams as her Teacher-of-the-Month.

Claudia Franklin is a senior at Putnam County High School. Her mother is Wanda Nix. She is a member of the marching band, jazz ensemble, concert band, Anchor Club, Beta Club, Key Club, tennis teamand Tome Society. She is the drum major for the marching band. She is also the president of the Anchor Club and Tome Society. After high school, she will be attending Kennesaw State University to major in forensic anthropology. Dr. Candice Veal is her chosen Putnam County High School Teacher-of-the-Month.
