GREENSBORO, Ga. — This is a reminder that Second Harvest will be holding its monthly food distribution on Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 9a.m. (or until food supplies are depleted). In addition, the Oconee Regional Humane Society will be on hand to distribute pet food and supplies.

The distribution will be held at the First Methodist Church Greensboro – Lake Oconee at 202 West Broad Street in downtown Greensboro.

If you need food and/or would like to volunteer, please join us on Saturday morning!

“Sponsor of the Month” is Piedmont Athens Regional.

The March “BackPack Sponsor of the Month” is Beth Mullins Fraley, whose contribution goes to ensure Second Harvest-supported local elementary students have a weekend meal.

Second Harvest is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. The mission of the program is to eliminate hunger in these counties. The program started in late 2008 by identifying places to “rescue” excess food. Over the years, the program has expanded to include monthly food distributions and the School Backpack Program which provides “weekend backpack meals” to elementary school children from low-income families.
