GREENSBORO, Ga. — This is a reminder that Second Harvest willholdits monthly food distribution on Saturday, April 20 from 8 to 9a.m. (or until food supplies are depleted). In addition, the Oconee Regional Humane Society will be on hand to distribute pet food and supplies.

The distribution will be held at the First Methodist Church Greensboro-Lake Oconee at 202 West Broad Street in downtown Greensboro.

Volunteers are encouraged.

The April BackPack Sponsors of the Month are Charlie and Claudia Sursa. Their contribution ensures Second Harvest-supported local elementary students have a weekend meal.

Second Harvest is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. The mission of the program is to eliminate hunger in these counties. The program started in late 2008 by identifying places to “rescue” excess food. Over the years, the program has expanded to include monthly food distributions and the School Backpack Program which provides “weekend backpack meals” to elementary school children from low-income families.
