Rotary Club honors March 2024 Students-of-the-Month

Gatewood – Ted Callaway, Tammy Callaway, Blake Callaway, Don Keiser, Dr. Tyler Franks.

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for March 2024: Blake Callaway(Gatewood), Christopher Soto (Greene County High School), Brelyn Evans (LOA), Skylar Ray(NGA), and Jonquail Coats (Putnam County High School).

Blake Callaway is a senior at Gatewood High School. Blake’s parents are Ted and Tammy Callaway. He is an honor roll student and excels in sports. He has held leadership positions on the football team, basketball team, and soccer team. He has been successful on the track team as well. He is active in his church and YoungLife group. He works at Cuscowilla Golf Course. He enjoys all sports related activities, hunting, fishing, and sketches and paints in his free time. He plans to attend Kennesaw State University in the fall to pursue a degree in computer science engineering. He has chosen his basketball coach and mentor Don Keiser as his Rotary Teacher-of-the-Month.

Christopher Soto is a senior at Greene County High School. He is the son of Dayhanna Soto and Antonino Soto. He is an honor roll student and takes AP and dual enrollment classes. He is the captain of the varsity soccer team. He plans to attend Augusta University to major in radiology and to eventually work in radiation therapy to help cancer patients. He selected Gregory Ingram as hisTeacher-of-the-Month.

Brelyn Evans is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy. She is the daughter of Ericia Dunham and Darrell Evans Jr. and the granddaughter of Walter Dunham,Zelphia Dunham, Darrell Evans Sr.and Josephen Redd. She is an honor roll student, a varsity basketball cheerleader, and a member of Chick-fil-A leadership. She enjoys traveling, listening to music, attending churchand spending time with family. After high school, she plans to attend Georgia Gwinnett College and pursue a degree in elementary education. She sees herself teaching a pre-K or kindergarten class in the future. She chose Katherine Nolley as her Teacher-of-the-Month. She has impacted her life tremendously. She has provided insightful advice and is always there to be a listening ear.

Skylar Ray is a senior at Nathanael Greene Academy. Her parents are Janel Ray and Chuck Ray. Skylar has participated in tennis, soccer, softballand volleyball. Her friends and family consider her to be a loyal, helpfuland funny person. Skylar enjoys working as a CNA at Morgan Medical Center.  Her job at the hospital has shown her how to be a hardworking individual and created her passion for the medical field. She plans to become either a paramedic or a nurse after high school. She has chosen Bonnie Brown as her Teacher-of-the-Month.

Jonquail Coats is a senior at Putnam County High School. His parents are Daffain Coats and Johhny Coats. He is an Honors AP student who is a member of the Junior Board committee, Beta Club, cross country club, wrestling team, volleyball cluband Service Leadership. In these extracurricular activities, he has placed fifth in state in 2-A GHSA wrestling, in service gave blind kids Braille books at GAB (Georgia Academy of the Blind), and is the vice president of projects in Beta Club. After high school, he is planning to attend Georgia Tech with a degree in computer science. Rebekah Esau is his chosen Putnam County High School Teacher-of-the-Month. He sees Mrs. Esau as a mentor, partner, and friend. He knows that Mrs. Easau is always someone whom he can go to in need. He respects the passion and empathy that she brings to the table every day.
