Rotary Club honors April Students-of-the-Month

GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for April 2024: Elaina Tkacik(Gatewood), Madison Glenn (Greene County High School), Logan Underwood (LOA), Jay Holt (NGA)and Ana Barranco (Putnam County High School).
Eliana Tkacik is a senior at Gatewood High School. Eliana’s parents are Joe and Pam Tkacik. She is involved in Anchor Club as well as many sports, including soccer, softball and cheering on the sidelines of the football team. After high school, she plans to attend the University of North Georgia and pursue a career in occupational therapy. Lisa McElhannon, her fourth grade teacher, is Tkacik’s chosen Gatewood High School Teacher-of-the-Month.
Madison Glenn is a senior at Greene County High School. Her parents are Daniell Savoy and stepfather Charles Jernigan. She is an honor roll student, a member of the GCHS Student Sports Medicine Team, and the founder of the GCHS Act Up Club. She enjoys acting, history, Englishand hanging out with family and friends. She also volunteers with the GCHS Care Closet, CJ’s Outdoor Maintenance as the social media manager, and throughout her community. She considers her love for life and others as her most positive attribute. Her mother is the person she respects the most. She respects her because of her drive, kindnessand love for her community. After high school, she plans to attend Tennessee Wesleyan University and pursue a degree in theater with a minor in English. Glenn sees herself fulfilling her dreams and making lasting contributions to her community in the years to come. She selected GCHS Assistant Principal Jessie Draper as her Teacher-of-the-Month.
Logan Underwood is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy High School and will graduate with the class of 2024. After graduation, he plans to attend to Athens Technical College and work at Lake Oconee Academy with the athletic director. At Athens Tech, he will study emerging technologies. When he has free time during school, he helps the athletic director with anything he needs, so it’s like an internship for the future part-time job.During his other free time, he spends time with his family either playing some board games, having a conversation that’s an hour long, or just hanging out with the two dogs he has. He also works for the concession stand at Lake Oconee Academy during home games like soccer, basketball and football. He enjoys getting to know people that he has never met before. He also enjoys doing service for the community, regardless of what he must do. He loves to help people in any way he can. Logan selected Chris Ingle as his Teacher-of-the-Month.
Jerrold Keith HoltIII (Jay) is the son of April Holt of Greensboro, Lee Heffner of Greensboro, and the late Jerrold Holt Sr. of Eatonton, Georgia. He has attended Nathanael Greene Academy for three years. He played football (11th grade), baseball (10th and 11th grades), and tennis (12th grade). He has also coached Little Patriots football for the past two years. He enjoys being on the field when he can and helping future NGA athletes.Outside of school, he participates in the Greene County 4-H program. He has competed on the shotgun team for five years. He also competed in the District Project Achievement in the Food Preparation division. This year, he is in the Chick-fil-A Leadership Program. After graduation, he plans to move to Wyoming to work on a ranch. He will then return home and join the workforce. He wants to thank all his teachers and peers at NGA for the memories he will never forget. Michael Lanier is his chosen Teacher-of-the-Month.
Ana Barranco is a senior at Putnam County High School. Ana’s mother is Elidel Hernandez. She is an honor roll and dual-enrollment student, a member of the Beta Club, Key Club, International Spanish Club, National Honor Society, and a member of the varsity soccer team. She is also part of the Junior Board of Directors for Farmers and Merchants Bank. She enjoys going to church, hanging out with familyand playing soccer. After high school, she plans to attend college to pursue a degree in accounting. She sees herself as an entrepreneur in the next ten years. Kara El-Kadi is her chosen Putnam County High School Teacher-of-the-Month. She respects the dedication and empathy she has towards her students.
