On Saturday, July 20, members from the Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 donated $3,000 to Second Harvest, a food distribution group that on Saturday fed 190 families. Lake Oconee Elks Lodge has supported Second Harvest for several years, and July is traditionally the month the Lodge donates funds to this worthwhile cause. The Elks support Second Harvest with volunteers every third Saturday each month (not just the sponsor month) and there are usually a lot of “Red Shirts,” as they are known volunteering throughout the year.
