On Saturday, Sept. 7, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge members traveled to Covington to take part in the Be Aware Fair. The East Newton Baptist Church hosted the event and it was to promote drug awareness and to stop bullying. Lake Oconee Elks Kat and Ed Whitcomb put the event together and it was also attended by the Toccoa Elks Lodge, Aidmore Children’s Home in Conyers and Scripturally Sound Ministries. Cyndi Russell from Toccoa gave a talk about drug awareness and bullying. Lake Oconee Lodge Drug Awareness co-chairs Ana and Bill Wright gave out drug awareness and bullying brochures, drug awareness coloring books and crayons for the kids, along with bookmarks and candy.
