Day of Hope: Local organizations join Lake Oconee Dentistry for free dental event

Lake Oconee Dentistry will host Smiles from the Heart, a free day of dentistry for those in need, on Friday, Oct. 4.

Drs. David and Patti Bradley and their associates will provide attendees with a choice of a free extraction, filling or cleaning that day. Dr. David Miller, owner of Lake Oconee Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, and his team, will also be donating their time to help as many as possible.

While Lake Oconee Dentistry has hosted free days of dentistry in the past, this year the practice is expanding its vision for the event.

“We’d like this year’s event to be a day of hope — not just in terms of providing free dental care — but in helping connect people in need with the resources and organizations available to help,” said Lake Oconee Dentistry owner Dr. David Bradley.

Lake Oconee Dentistry has invited a variety of local community groups to be on hand that day to share information about their organization and the services they provide. Lakeside Church, Circle of Love Women’s Shelter, Greene County Habitat for Humanity, ATLAS Ministry, Greene County Food Pantry, Greene County Christian Outreach, The Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and Victory Train will all be in attendance.

“There are so many amazing organizations that are helping people in our community every day,” says Bradley. “It’s our hope that we can connect more people with the important work these groups are doing.”

Charitable organizations that would like to participate that day are asked to reach out to the Lake Oconee Dentistry office directly at 706-453-1333.

Dental treatment at the Smiles from the Heart event will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  Doctors and volunteers will treat the first 100 patients, and possibly more if time allows that day. Event registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and patients will be seen through 5 p.m.

Patients must be at least 18 years of age.  Patients are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring chairs, water, snacks, etc. as they wait outside for their turn.
