GREENSBORO, Ga. — Second Harvest would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff and management at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, for their extraordinary support during the monthly food distribution held on Oct. 19 at First Methodist Church in Greensboro.

With nearly 200 families (approximately 350 individuals) served, The Ritz-Carlton stepped in to provide essential food and household supplies when our usual supplier, Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta, was unable to make deliveries due to their focus on aiding their local community severely affected by the recent hurricane.

Bill Bonnington, chair of the board for Second Harvest, expressed his appreciation, stating, “The generosity and commitment demonstrated by The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, exemplifies the true spirit of community. Their willingness to step in during a time of crisis ensured that families in need received critical support. We are grateful for their partnership and dedication to helping those less fortunate.”

The collaboration between Second Harvest and The Ritz-Carlton not only provided immediate relief but also highlighted the power of community spirit in challenging times. Together they are making a meaningful difference in the lives of area families.

Second Harvest is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. The mission of the program is to eliminate hunger in these counties. The program started in late 2008 by identifying places to “rescue” excess food. Over the years, the program has expanded to include monthly food distributions and the School Backpack Program which provides “weekend backpack meals” to elementary school children from low-income families.
