Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) proudly announces the success of its annual fundraiser, Soirée en Blanc & Noir, held on Nov. 8 at Barrel 118.

This elegant evening celebrated the performing arts while raising crucial funds to support arts education for local students in Lake Country and surrounding areas.

Guests arrived in sophisticated black-and-white attire, adding a touch of elegance to the beautifully adorned venue. The night featured live performances, an exquisite dining experience, and opportunities for guests to contribute to the future of performing arts education and scholarships through a silent auction, a live auction and direct donations.

“The arts are vital to fostering creativity and growth in our community,” said Doug LaBrecque, artistic director of OPAS. “Soirée en Blanc & Noir is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of our shared commitment to empowering young artists and ensuring the arts remain a cornerstone of education.”

Proceeds from the event will directly fund college performing arts scholarships, masterclasses and outreach programs that give thousands of local students unique opportunities to explore and develop their talents in music, theater, and dance. The highlight of the evening was a heartfelt performance by music students from The McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University, which showcased the transformative power of the performing arts that OPAS strives to make accessible to all.

Barrel 118, a historic local venue, provided a perfect backdrop for the evening, blending its rustic charm with modern elegance. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal and a selection of fine wines, further enhancing the event’s ambiance.

OPAS extends heartfelt gratitude to its patrons, committee members, and volunteers whose generosity and dedication made this event possible. Together, the community demonstrated the profound impact of collective support for arts education.
