Rotary Club honors Students-of-the-Month

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is pleased to announce the following Students-of-the-Month for October 2024: Sarah Kate Mansfield(Gatewood), Josh Gentry (NGA), and Madyson Mincey. (Putnam County High School). The Rotary Club recognizes these students not only for their academic excellence but also for their leadership, service, and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.

Sarah Kate Mansfield is a senior at Gatewood High School and is the daughter of Jeff Mansfield. 

She has been involved in many activities during her time at Gatewood. She is a member of the varsity Basketball and Soccer Team. She is also a part of Gatewood’s Student Ambassador Program, Anchor Club and more. She works part-time at the Suds Club Car Wash and works at the Putnam County Recreation Department. She shows leadership through her roles as the vice president of her class and the captain of the varsity soccer team. She enjoys being a part of her community through the Farmers and Merchants Bank Junior Board, and she likes spending her free time hanging out with friends, going to Young Life, and playing basketball and soccer. After high school, she plans to attend college and major in diagnostic medical sonography. She chose Beth Moss as her Rotary teacher-of-the-month because every time she steps foot into her class, she feels a sense of peace and comfort.

Josh Gentry is the son of Jason and Stacey Gentry of Crawfordville. He has attended Nathanael Greene Academy since 2nd grade. He was elected secretary of the Class of 2025. He has participated in many sports at Nathanael Greene Academy, but basketball is his favorite. This year he is participating in the work release program in which he takes classes at Nathanael Greene Academy in the morning and is released to go to work in the afternoon. He plans to pursue a career as a line man after graduation. He selected Mrs. Jane Morgan as his Nathanael Greene Academy Rotary teacher-of-the-month.

Madyson Mincey is a student at Putnam County High School. Her mother is Crystal Cook-Mincey. There are many clubs in which Madyson is a part of such as FCA, Beta Club, National Honor Society and Chorus. She loves to volunteer at Lakepoint Community Church where she is highly active in the children’s ministry and sings in the worship band at youth group. After high school, she plans on attending college and then pursue a degree in psychology where she eventually plans to become a children’s therapist. She chose Amanda Stover as her teacher-of-the-month.

Co-chair of the Rotary student-of-the-month program, Dr. Tyler Franks, stated “all of these students exemplify the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’ through their dedication to their studies and their communities. We are thrilled to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the future.”
