The Knights of Columbus Council 13808 sponsors the Coats for Kids Program each year, a local, statewide and national charity program that involves the purchase of quality winter coats that are paid for by donations from the Christ Our King and Savior parish.

This year the program distributed 300 coats and raised more than $5,000. The state of Georgia Knights of Columbus also matches the Council’s requests for coats.

The coats this year were distributed to kids in need from the local COKAS parish, Martha’s Closet in Sparta, the Boys & Girls Club of Greene, Putnam and Hancock counties, the Greene County food bank, the Mayfield community outside of Sparta, St. Vincent dePaul and the hurricane victims in Georgia.

All profit  from the purchase of the coats goes back into Knights of Columbus charity contributions. The program has been managed by Sir Knight John Petersen for the past six years.  Without his dedication it would not have been the success that it has been.
