The first annual Greensboro Mayors Gala has donated more than $16,500 to Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN), a non-profit organization serving Greene and Putnam Counties.

It was an exciting evening of music, dining and dancing on Feb. 22 in downtown Greensboro. The black tie affair was held at a smartly dressed up and finely decorated Festival Hall.

Greensboro Mayor Corey Williams and First Lady Charlotte Brooks Williams got the idea for a gala when they attended a recent Mayors Gala in Milledgeville.

We knew we had to bring a similar event to our city,” said Ms. Williams, one that would not only be a night of fun and entertainment but also serve a greater purpose — giving back to the community.”

The gala raised more than $33,000 which was split between Neighbors Helping Neighbors and the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club.

NHN President Bob Massey said, We were honored to be selected as one of two non-profits to benefit from the first ever Greensboro Mayors Gala. This will help us give a hand up — not a handout — to more of our neighbors.”

Neighbors Helping Neighbors serves the 7,500-plus people in Greene and Putnam counties who live below the poverty level by making critical Home Repairs, finding families primary Transportation and providing Beds For Kidz to children who dont have their own.
