GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Thillen Education Foundation, in collaboration with Greene College & Career Academy, proudly recognizes recipients of the Dave Dollar Awards during its four quarterly receptions. The latest Student Recognition Receptions were held on April 22 when student earnings exceeded $10,000.

The event hosted at Greene College and Career Academy brought together Career Coaches, parents, family members, friends and school staff to celebrate students for their exceptional efforts over the past quarter. Additional Thillen Education Foundation awards were presented at the Senior Honors Night on May 19.

The Dave Dollars Award program is a unique initiative designed to reward students for their dedication and hard work throughout high school. These Dave Dollars transition into real dollars upon graduation from Greene County High School, helping students take the next step in their education or career. In addition to providing students with a career coach throughout high school, the program also offers earned financial incentives that can be redeemed after graduation.

This year’s reception also emphasized the vital role of parental involvement in student success. As a testament to the importance of family support, 21 parents in attendance were each awarded $25 Dave Dollars to present to their son or daughter, reinforcing the significance of encouragement and motivation in achieving educational and career goals.

Students who earn Dave Dollars have the flexibility to utilize their funds based on their chosen path post-graduation.

–Further Education – Funds are awarded as a scholarship to assist with college or trade school expenses.

–Workforce Entry – Funds can be used to purchase professional supplies needed for their chosen career.
