Mia Mauriello is a senior at Greene County High School. Her parents are Frank and Adriana Mauriello. An honor roll student with all A’s throughout high school, she ranks in the Top 5 of her class and is a member of Beta Club, FCA, Student Council, JROTC and Academic Bowl.
She participates in soccer, flag football and serves on the athletic training team, currently assisting the middle school, JV, and Varsity football teams. Active in her community, she has volunteered for two faith-based summer mission trips to Mexico, the Greene County
Christmas Stocking Fund, and her church’s nursery. She also served as a counselor for ATLAS’ Summer Camp in 2025. She considers her determination and love for people to be her most positive qualities. She enjoys Bible studies, attending Young Life with friends, dog-sitting and going on walks. She plans to attend Georgia College & State University to pursue a degree in nursing and continue serving others in the healthcare field. She would especially like to thank the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties for sponsoring her REACH Georgia Scholarship. She has selected Laura Ringer as her teacher.
Presley Elizabeth Moss, senior of Gatewood’s class of 2026 is a resident of Eatonton. Her parents are Jay and Beth Moss of Eatonton. She has been a Gator for eight years. Her school day consists of dual enrollment classes in both math and English. She is an honors student, UGA Certificate of Merit recipient, and a member of National Honor Society. Beyond her academics, she has earned the DAR Leadership Award, was chosen for the Tri-County EMC Youth Tour Delegate of 2025, nominated by the Gatewood faculty to attend the HOBY Leadership Camp, and is the reigning Queen of the Putnam County Dairy Festival. Her athletic accomplishments include five years on the varsity track team with many region titles and the current school record for the 400. She can also be seen on the sideline at Friday night football games, on the competitive cheer team, and varsity tennis team. She plans on attending the University of Georgia where she will major in environmental sciences to become a soil analyst with environmental management. She has chosen her English teacher, Beth Moss, as her Rotary teacher.
Sara Duncan Hong is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy. Her parents are Tim and Kimberly Hong. She is a competitive dancer at the Vibe Dance Center. She is also president of the LOA Beta Club, social media chair of LOA Miracle and a Lake Oconee Rural Health Initiative ambassador. She enjoys serving the community around her through Rivers Alive and the local Coat Drive. She has been awarded the executive director’s award for the past three years for having the highest grade point average in her class. She enjoys dancing, hanging out with friends and attending her youth group at Lakeside Church. After high school, she hopes to attend the University of Georgia and pursue a degree in biology in hopes to enter the medical field. She selected Mandy Lipscomb as her Rotary teacher of the month.
Carlos Jimenez represents a rare individual whose capabilities far exceed what is typical of a high school student. His writing and analysis reflect his command of historical method and argumentation beyond what most students encounter before college. In classroom discussions, his insights challenge peers to think more deeply, and his questions often signal the next level of inquiry. He cultivates a culture of excellence in the classroom, leading by example and lifting others as he climbs. He sets a high academic standard that motivates peers to reach further and think more critically. His leadership transforms the classroom into a collaborative learning community where students feel both challenged and supported. Equally impressive is his character. As a member of the National Honor Society, Community Service Learning, a class representative, and a leader among his peers, he models generosity, not competition. He shares ideas freely, helps others succeed without seeking credit, and remains grounded in a deep sense of humility and justice. His unwavering moral compass, respectful demeanor, and collaborative spirit make him not only respected, but trusted by peers and faculty alike. He excels when challenged which is evidenced by his ability to manage an extremely rigorous course schedule filled with AP and dual enrollment courses and being involved in extracurricular activities all while maintaining an unweighted 4.0 GPA. He is an outstanding young man with a bright and promising future. He plans to begin that journey next fall at either Georgia Tech or the University of Georgia. He has selected Dr. Mike Mortimer as his teacher of the month.
The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties is proud to honor our Rotary Students-of-the-Month. These exceptional students have demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication to service, and a commitment to their communities that truly embody the spirit of Rotary.
