ON THE MARKET: Purpose

Purpose refers to the reason for which something exists or is done, the goal someone aims to achieve, or the determination and resolve to accomplish something.
The Bible is God’s sovereign, eternal will and plan that He established before creation, with the ultimate goal of His own glory and the fulfillment of His good pleasure through Christ. For believers, this divine purpose involves being created to do good works, to know and love God, to live in a restored relationship with Him, and to serve others by spreading the Gospel and helping them to obey Christ’s commands.
So, what does purpose mean to each and everyone of us? Purpose is a core need for everyone.
In today’s world we are presented with more challenges than our ancestors. Parents and grandparents can see what our children will face. Isn’t this a word that we should talk to them about? Purpose is what will fulfill their needs, and it is not the rest of the world’s responsibility. Having a purpose or goal is not ego, it is a drive that will bring us satisfaction in life no matter what your age. Many look for a purpose when they are starting out in life. I myself have always had a purpose but I really questioned my purpose after being faced with a death of a loved one. I am sure many can relate to this. Asking oneself about what your purpose in life is a healthy question. At any age you can find a new purpose. When we are young, we certainly have a different purpose in life. We strive for perfection in our job or perhaps if we have a family, your purpose is to provide a good life for your family.
We must create a vision and try to achieve things of significance to us. We can find that purpose through our innate makeup. Our spouse or children may be there to help you find that purpose, but they cannot make it happen.
We all have different needs and goals in life. It is a deep-down need in our biology to have a purpose and feel good when we fulfill it. Throughout our lives we are not promised that we will ever find our purpose. Maybe you may not even know that you are fulfilling your purpose just by you doing what you do every day. Going to work and bringing joy to others.
I believe we need: Someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to.
Thought for the day: The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
