The Greensboro Garden Club wanted to help make Greensboro a little more beautiful this spring. To accomplish the club’s goal of beautification throughout the city thousands of daffodil bulbs were planted at two key locations.
“The city was thrilled that the club chose to support Greensboro with the donation of daffodil bulbs,” said Better Hometown Manager Cail Hammons.
The bulbs were planted at the interchange of Interstate 20 and state Highway 44 and at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro. Already, the flowers are beginning to sprout and should be in full bloom within the next few weeks.
Ricky Easley of Yard Care Inc. selected and planted the bulbs on behalf of the Garden Club. Many of the bulbs chosen are of the King Alfred variety, which feature a vibrant, bright yellow bloom.
“Community beatification is a state-wide goal for the Garden Clubs of Georgia,” said Greensboro Garden Club president Lynn Gerber. “Our club was pleased to partner with the City of Greensboro to help improve the city.”
“The daffodil project was especially near and dear to our hearts,” comments project organizer Elaine Sutherland or the Greensboro Garden Club. “We can hardly wait to see the blooms!”
“The most exciting part about this project is that the daffodils will come back year after year for our citizens to enjoy,” commented Hammons. “The Greensboro Garden Club’s Daffodil Project will have an impact that extends far beyond this spring season.”
