On Nov. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. please plan to take advantage of early holiday shopping at Saint Joseph’s East Georgia’s hospital gift shop organized and staffed by volunteers from the Auxiliary. There will be plenty of gift items, for both children and adults, and holiday decorations including beautiful and unique tree ornaments, all at very reasonable prices.
In addition, enjoy some fresh baked holiday cookies and candies while you shop.

Learn to Turn, a Steffen Thomas Arts Outreach Family Workshop, 10 a.m. to noon. The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art, 4200 Bethany Road, Buckhead 30625; (706) 342-7557. Create your own unique hand-crafted and painted wood Christmas ornament and learn how to operate a woodworking lathe. The First Presbyterian Church, on Main Street, Greens boro is hosting a Quilt Show on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. More than 60 quilts will be on display in the church sanctuary. Quilt makers from the region will display: hand sewn, machine sewn, new and antique quilts, some of which have been in many of the area’s residences for centuries. Representatives from The Lake Oconee Quilt Guild and the Meadow Crest Quilters will be on hand to share stories and the origins of their quilts. They will be joined by individual quilters from Union Point, Veazey, Greensboro and the Lake community. At 4:45 p.m. there will be a drawing for the handmade cathedral quilt made by the women of the church and a Georgia Bulldog quilt made by the youth of the church. Please join us and see the beauty of these works of art. This is a free event.
Lake Oconee Landscape Association has formed to promote professionalism in the green industry, in the lake country. All members of LOLA are required to be licensed, insured and reputable. LOLA members provides services such as; landscape installation, maintenance, lawn and shrub fertilization, weed control, garden centers, all your outdoor needs. LOLA is a nonprofit organization to assist consumers in Greene, Putnam, Morgan and Baldwin counties to select quality landscape professionals.

The Greene County Toastmasters Club invites everyone who wishes to improve their public speaking ability and increase their confidence to join them. The club meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro (next to the post office). The meeting starts promptly at 6 p.m. Greene County Toastmasters is a chartered member club of Toastmasters International. The mission of the club is to assist members in learning and developing their communication skills.
