New rector takes ‘pounding’

Father Joe, his wife Ashley, and their 3-month-old son J.D., have officially moved to the Greensboro and Lake Oconee area after Fr. Joe’s acceptance of the Vestry’s call to become Rector of The Episcopal Church Of The Redeemer. Sunday, May 2, marked the initial services with Father Joe officiating.
The congregation celebrated with a festive coffee hour and a “pounding”. The pounding tradition comes from the early days of the church of England in which parishioners would bring a “pound” of some item, such as coffee, flour, sugar, or even toiletries and dishware, to help fill the pantry of the new Rector.
Please come and meet our new Rector and his wonderful family.
