National Quilting Day, March 20, is a day when quilters get together to make quilts for charitable organizations. In the Lake Oconee area, quilters will gather at The Stitching Barn to make colorful quilts that will be distributed to individuals in the local who suffer from severe illnesses, are home bound, or who have debilitating illnesses and injuries.
“The day is to recognize and appreciate quiltmakers; their skill, the warmth, and the results. If you are a quiltmaker, spend a minute to recognize and appreciate that you have truly been blessed with a special skill,” says Becky Pitman, a quilter and co-owner of The Stitching Barn.
The Stitching Barn is sponsoring a “Sew In” from 10 to 4 on Sat., March 20. They will provide all fabrics for a simple, fun-to-make quilt including the pattern, fabric, matching thread, etc. Cost for the “Sew In” is $30 which includes all supplies and beverages and snacks. Participants are requested to bring a sack lunch; beverages will be provided. Treat yourself to a day of fun with other quilters and register now!
The Stitching Barn is located at 104 Clack Circle , Suite 400, in the Fore Magnolias Shopping Center just off Hwy 44 near the Putnam-Greene County line. To register for the class, or for more information, call Allyson or Becky at The Stitching Barn at 706-485-0028.
