THE COW SHOW 2011, curated by Jackson Cheatham, marks the return of     this bovine-inspired exhibition to the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center 21 years after making its debut in 1990.  THE COW SHOW 2011 will be on display through October 15 at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center.  

Sept. 20

A Bird of the Air is a film based on the novel THE LOOP by Joe Coomer. Starring Rachel Nichols and Jackson Hurst, the film will be shown at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center on September 20, 2011 as part of the Southern Circuit of Independent Filmmakers presented by South Arts.  $5. 7 p.m.

Sept. 24

Larkin Poe Soul singing, songwriting sisters Rebecca and Megan will be performing with their band, Larkin Poe, at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center on September 24, 2011 at 7:30 PM.  Come experience this singer/songwriter concert as part of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center Mainstage performances.  Tickets $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Oct. 1

COW DAY!  The cows are coming to the cultural center.  Live Animal Exhibits will cover the front lawn of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center during this family fun day. Free. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy is looking for “yard sale” items in preparation for a fall yard sale. All types of items are needed, including large items like furniture and appliances, but no clothing please.

The Greene County Boys and Girls Club will be sponsoring “A Festival of Trees, A Greene Christmas,” Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro. 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Oct. 1 and will be available at participating merchants. Adults: $5 children ages 8 to 18 $2, Children under  8 admitted free.  Festival includes: Trees, Wreaths, Table Centerpieces, Gingerbread Houses, Secret Santa Shop for the children, Bazaar for shopping unique gifts, Listen to Christmas music from our local choirs and children. September 1, The “Pray, Hope and Believe”  Cancer Support Group for Women in Greensboro, Monticello and Eatonton will be meeting at Putnam General Hospital located at 101 Lake Oconee Parkway in Eatonton, on Sept. 1.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Classroom. Please enter the meeting by using the front doors of the hospital as the Classroom is located on the second hallway to the right. All female cancer survivors are invited to attend this meeting. Our meeting will be about “Decorating a Bra! Community

Awareness in our Counties.”

Lake Oconee Landscape Association has formed to promote professionalism in the green industry, in the lake country. All members of LOLA are required to be licensed, insured and reputable. LOLA members provides services such as; landscape installation, maintenance, lawn and shrub fertilization, weed control, garden centers, all your outdoor needs. The Greene County Toastmasters Club invites everyone who wishes to improve their public speaking ability and increase their confidence to join them.
