Due to overwhelming demand for the Nov. 18 Lee Greenwood Concert “A Tennessee Christmas,” The Plaza Arts Center is pleased to announce the addition of a second show on Nov. 17.
“We were amazed that the 500 tickets for the first show sold out before we even started advertising” said Lydia Ivanditti, Director of The Plaza. “We had so much demand for tickets that Lee Greenwood generously agreed to perform a second show on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.”

The community is invited to Redeemer Episcopal Academy’s Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 22, at 680 Old Phoenix Road in Eatonton. The Festival will feature arts and crafts, bounce houses, hayrides, an exotic petting zoo, pony rides, pumpkin patch and more. “Louder Than a Bomb” is a film about passion, competition, teamwork and trust. It’s about the joy of being young and the pain of growing up. It’s about speaking out, making noise and finding your voice — it also just happens to be about poetry. The film will be shown at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, 2011, as part of the Southern Circuit of Independent Filmmakers presented by South Arts. The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center in partnership with The Steffen Thomas Musuem presents “Scapes an exhibition of Landscapes, Cityscapes and Seascapes” by Steffen Thomas. This exhibit presents paintings selected from private collections to represent the best works by Steffen Thomas, a German-American expressionist who worked as an artist in the Atlanta area from 1929 until 1990. Curated by Hathia and Andrew Hayes. The exhibit is scheduled to be on display Oct. 27, 2011, through Feb. 18, 2012. The opening reception, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27, is free and open to the public.
The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center presents “Ahead of Time” with producer Zeva Oelbaum as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers at the Center’s Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. Following a screening of the feature film, “Ahead of Time,” Oelbaum and the audience will engage in a discussion about the film and her work as a filmmaker. A reception with the filmmaker will follow the discussion. Tickets are available for $5.

The Greene County Toastmasters Club invites everyone who wishes to improve their public speaking ability and increase their confidence to join them. The club meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro (next to the post office).
