Local students, families, and community groups are invited to the second annual Back to School BASH! in Downtown Greensboro on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is made possible by sponsorship from TenderCare Clinic and St. Joseph’s East Georgia.

Students can register on the courthouse lawn to win a “Back to School Care Package” or stop in for a goody from various vendors and the downtown merchants.

The goal of the Back to School Bash is to create an afternoon of fun and attention for students as they begin their new school year. The event will help build a sense of community support for students and their families.

Local citizens can get involved in the Back to School Bash by donating a care package to be given to students. A complete list of the needed supplies organized by grade level is available by calling the Greene County Chamber of Commerce at (706) 453-7592 or by contacting the local schools.

In addition, community groups are encouraged to participate as a vendor offering advice, supplies, and support for students during the event. Booth space can be arranged by contacting event organizers at (706) 453-7592.

The Back to School BASH is presented by the Greene County Family Connection, Greensboro Better Hometown Program, Greensboro Police Department, and the Greene County Chamber of Commerce. The 2009 BASH helped to get Greene County’s school year off to a great start by provided more than 600 hundred local students with school supplies!
