National Day of Prayer brings ministers, community together

Thursday, May 7 was a beautiful spring day when many of the Lake Oconee area Christian ministers, lay people, and community leaders gathered for National Day of Prayer. Hosting the event was Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church.

Among those participating on the program were: Dr. Joe King, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church; the Rev. Jay Reber, First Baptist Church, Eatonton; the Rev. Jay Thompson, Lakeside Church; the Rev. Michael Wells, Lakeside Church; the Rev. Gary W. Arnold, Lake Oconee Community Church; the Rev. David Ridenhour, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church; Gerald Torbert, commissioner, Greene County; Russell Murray, Elder, Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church; the Rev. Ron Schornhorst, Lake Oconee Lutheran Church; Dr. Trish Klein, Redeemer Episcopal Academy; the Rev. Lee Ross, Lakeside Church; and the Rev. Becky Matheny, Lake Oconee Community Church.

Specific prayer requests were for the president and his cabinet, Congress, the judicial branch, state government, county/city government, military, first responders, firefighters and law enforcement, business and education, churches, and mercy ministries. Many individuals offered personal prayers as well.

Following the program, a sack lunch was provided compliments of Chick-fil-A, Publix at Lake Oconee and women from the Community Bible Study.
