After last year’s successful WGA18 Chip in for a Cure fundraiser at Reynolds Lake Oconee, a very lofty goal was set $50,000 for this year’s event. The goal was not only met, it was exceeded with $55,156.45 raised for the Breast Health Fund at St. Mary’s Hospital in Greensboro. Many hands contributed to the success of the tournament — the 120 ladies who played and bought raffle tickets, others who donated door prizes and silent auction items, local businesses and individuals who sponsored holes, and an anonymous donor who matched $1,023.45 in “spare change.” It was a beautiful day to play, made even more beautiful by every shade of pink attire on ladies who purchased 100s of pink flags celebrating the thrivers and survivors among us and honoring those who have succumbed to the dreaded C word. Special recognition goes to the CIFAC committee who led the charge: Kathy Hudson, Amy Hudson, Kate Mathison, Deb Denny, Kathy Linney, and Karla Valdez. Rumor has it they’ve already started planning next year’s event. How high will they raise the bar?
